MAY 2008 is Prader-Willi Syndrome Awareness Month

To our relatives, friends, Greater Allen AME church family, local churches, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Delta Phi Zeta Chapter, Amicae, local schools, Foundations Group Home, caregivers, providers and Compassionate Medical Professionals:

In this packet you will find your invitation to participate in the 2008 “Jazzy’s Walk for Prader-Willi Syndrome Awareness Month!”  Also included is a tri-fold brochure from PWSA(USA).

This event is named in honor of Jasmine AndreaSutton, “Jazzy” who was diagnosed with PWS-deletion at 7 years old.  She is now 18 years old and currently lives at Foundations group home in New Paris, Ohio.  Since admitted to the group home over one year ago, she’s lost a total of 98lbs and we’re so very proud of her progress.  Jazzy is the daughter of Darrell and Julie Sutton of Dayton, Ohio.  Julie is a member of the PWSA of Ohio Support group, and the event coordinator for this year’s “Jazzy’s Walk.”  However, even though this event has Jazzy’s name in its title, rest assured that the funds raised from this event benefit all individuals with PWS, both here in Ohio and nationwide!  The proceeds from this event will be split equally between PWSA(USA) and our State chapter, PWSA of Ohio.  “Jazzy’s Walk” is a wonderful opportunity to increase both awareness of PWS and support for our children who live with its challenges on a daily basis.

There are three ways by which you could participate in “Jazzy’s Walk” this year:

1.  Join us in the Walk!  Please come and walk with us!  This is not a competitive event, and the route itself is of moderate length.  We will have a table with water and a certified instructor to make sure we stretch before and after the walk.

2.Consider being a “Super Sponsor Plus!”  If you can’t join us on May 31, please know that you will be missed!  However, you can still help with the fundraising effort by being an “Event Sponsor” yourself, and asking for sponsorship dollars from family and friends!  Simply use the enclosed Sponsor Form, and write “Event Sponsor” in the Walker Information” section and mail all funds raised to Julie A. Sutton, 823 N. Upland Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45402 and make sure checks are made out to PWSA of Ohio.   Thank You!

3.  Consider being a “Super Sponsor”!  If you would like to participate in this fundraising effort, but can’t join us on May 31, you can be a Super Sponsor by simply sending in your own sponsorship contribution.  Every dollar counts!  Use the Sponsor form, write “Event Sponsor” in the Walker Information” section, and mail your donations in to Julie A. Sutton, 823 N. Upland Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45402 by June 6, 2008.  Thank You!

Thank you in advance for your help…and a huge thanks to all who have supported us this year.  I sincerely hope that you are able to join us for this year’s “Jazzy’s Walk”.  We plan to have a great time, we raise awareness, we are able to visit with our church members, local churches, family, friends, and community we may not see very often…and ultimately, we Walk in support of our loved family members and friends who deal with the challenges of PWS every day.  If you have any questions, please contact Julie Sutton at (937) 268-3293 or cell (937) 620-2217.

Sincerely,

JULIE A. SUTTON, Member of PWSA of Ohio and the Event Coordinator for the “Jazzy’s Walk for Prader-Willi Syndrome Awareness Month.”
